There may be many reasons why you need to move or are moving. Here is some information for ending your tenancy.
When you intend to vacate the property, we require your notice at least 28 days in advance. This must be in writing and can be hand-delivered, posted or emailed. You will be provided end of tenancy documents to formalise the notice.
Notice in writing
After you have given notice to vacate, your Kaihautū Tū Tara ā Whare | Relationship Manager will contact you to arrange a pre-vacated inspection and then a checklist of tasks to consider will be provided before moving out.
You must pay rent until the last day of your tenancy, leave the property in a clean, tidy condition and remove all your possessions.
Moving out procedure
Bond refund
If everything is in order during the final inspection, we will complete the Bond Refund form together and send it to the Bond Centre for immediate refund. However, the bond may be held to cover any costs for rent, cleaning or repairs to the property.

Te Āhuru Mōwai only manage houses on the western side of Porirua this is Titahi Bay, Elsdon, Takapūwāhia, Mana and Cambourne, We also manage houses in parts of Linden / Tawa, Grenada North and Paekākāriki.
Transfers
Cleaning
We will let you know what you need to do. Make sure you leave the property in the condition it was in when you moved in. This will stop you having to pay extra costs for cleaning and so you get your full bond back.
We will carry out a final inspection on the property. We will be checking that:
The property is fully cleaned, and all belongings have been taken.
That all keys have been returned
We will go through the check list with you
If there are damages, we will discuss what repairs are needed and what this may cost.
