Exciting news! 🎉 Te Āhuru Mōwai is thrilled to announce our Matariki Colouring Competition for our rangatahi! 🖍️✨ All our tenant whānau need to do is get creative with colouring in the Matariki stars! 🎨 We have some great prizes up for grabs!
Be on the look out for our latest newsletter as a copy of the competition is inside! We also have printed copies in our reception available.
Once your masterpiece is complete, send your artwork to PO Box 50044, Porirua 5024. 💌 or send a photo of your artworks to communications@teahurumowai.co.nz.

This group provides a space for kaumātua and seniors to connect, share interests, and offer support to one another.
Open to all tenant whānau, we meet every second Tuesday of the month from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Niblick Hall, Niblick Lane.
Our sessions are driven by group members and have kicked off with some fantastic activities, including chair Zumba, fry bread making, and discussions on emergency preparedness.

WELLfed is back with another garden workshop with spaces available for our tenant whānau - free of charge!

Tamariki ANZAC Drawing Competiton!
🎨🌺 Kia ora whānau! As ANZAC Day draws near, we're thrilled to announce our ANZAC Day drawing competition! 🎉✏️
Calling all budding artists aged between 5-12 years, we want YOU to capture 'The Spirit of ANZAC' through your artwork. 🖼️ Whether it's a heartfelt tribute, a symbol of remembrance, or a scene that evokes the spirit of unity and courage, let your creativity shine!
Here's how to participate:
🎨 Draw your masterpiece on a maximum of A4 paper (portrait or landscape).
📸 Snap a photo of your artwork and email it to communications@teahurumowai.co.nz or showcase it right here on this page.
📅 Deadline for submissions: April 30th, 2024.
Our panel of kaimahi will judge the entries, and winners will be announced on May 1st, 2024. 🏆✨

Tamariki Swimming Lessons
With the support of Nuku Ora we are pleased to advise tenant whānau that we have secured funding to pay for swimming lessons for 40 tamariki.
The lessons will teach tamariki water safety and enhance overall health and wellbeing. This initiative is for tamariki aged between 5-10 years old to access swimming education so they can confidently enjoy the water. They will also be provided with a swimming pack, the pack includes togs, a towel and googles. Tamariki will also receive a 10-trip pass to their local swimming pool. This pass will enable swim practice to continue and for tamariki to share their progress with whānau.
When: Sponsored tamariki will be invited to participate in ten swimming lessons in term 2 or 3 in 2024. Our community team will be in contact with whānau to confirm placements by Friday 22nd March 2024.
How: Te Āhuru Mōwai has 40 spaces available so if you are interested and your tamariki can commit to attending all the lessons in a term, then please register your interest as soon as possible. Interest can be registered by calling us 0508 832 48 Alternatively, you may register interest by emailing communications@teahurumowai.co.nz

Garden Competition 2024
Our gardening competition is back this summer!
If you take pride in your backyard, have a vegetable patch or know of a neighbour with a stunning or unique garden, we want to hear from you!
Photos of all entries will be reviewed by Te Āhuru Mōwai judges. Gardens that are shortlisted will have their gardens visited by our judges.
Only Te Āhuru Mōwai tenants are eligible.
When: All entries recieved by the 22 February 2024 will be considered by the judges.
Categories:
Supreme Garden ($200 voucher)
Mara kai - fruit and/or vegetable ($200 voucher)
Tamariki - draw/paint a picture of your dream garden (Mitre-10 Junior Gardening Kit)

WELLfed - Composting Workshop
Te Āhuru Mōwai is teaming up with WELLfed for another community event!
The WELLfed garden crew will walk participants through all the methods and options for turning household organic waste into rich, useful soil to support healthy plants.
Check out the WELLfed compost system and garden, learn about the composting process, get involved in the step-by-step process of building a compost heap, and work through troubleshooting potential issues.
Head away with the skills and confidence to create a compost solution that will work at your place.
